RiverCom 911 Funding Measure on February 2026 Ballot
Reliable communication is the backbone of every emergency response—it all starts with 911. When someone calls, RiverCom’s dispatchers are the first to answer and the vital link in getting help where it’s needed.
The RiverCom 911 Administrative Board has approved a resolution placing a funding measure on the February 10, 2026 ballot in Chelan and Douglas counties. If approved, the measure would authorize a 911 sales tax increase of one-tenth of one percent—equal to one cent on a $10 purchase.
Additional revenue would strengthen radio coverage in critical areas such as Blewett Pass, Highway 2, Lake Wenatchee, and sections of Douglas County where communication dead zones can delay response. It would also fund upgraded radios, technology, and cybersecurity systems to support reliable, next-generation 911 service.
RiverCom’s current facility, located on the third floor of the Wenatchee Police Department, is at capacity and limits the agency’s ability to grow. Funding would allow RiverCom to expand into a modern facility with the space needed for dispatchers, training, and technology systems to meet increasing call volumes and better manage large-scale emergencies.
Because many 911 calls come from visitors, the sales-tax model ensures non-residents contribute to the system as well. RiverCom remains committed to transparency and accountability. All funds would be deposited in a dedicated account that can only be used for emergency communication systems and facilities.
